I'm Antonio, a proud tour guide in Florence for more than 10 years. I was raised and did my studies here, originally about political science, but truly found my passion with guiding.
Q. What inspired you to become a guide?
At first, it was my mom's intuition that this job could suit me. She was right!
Q. What do you love most about Florence?
The narrow streets that lead to buildings of astonishing beauty.
Q. What's your favorite story to tell on tour?
Brunelleschi's egg. You'll have to be on my tour to learn about it.
I'm a soccer addict, and I follow the Fiorentina team.
I'm an amateur cyclist
I'm from the Chianti area, and being a country boy, I'm nicer than the true Florentines ;)
Q: Best time of year to enjoy Florence?
September and October are my favorite months. The weather isn't too hot or too cold and the summer crowds have left.
Q: What do you tell your visiting friends to see in Florence?
Palazzo Vecchio and the Medici Chapels are two must-sees.
Q: What about the culture in Florence should people not miss?
I'd say having Italian style breakfast in a local pasticceria.
Q: What are some unmissable foods and drinks?
Budino di riso, panino al lampredotto, and of course a glass of Chianti Classico wine.
