Excellent
We absolutely loved our tour of the Louvre with Marie. She knew exactly where to take us so that we got to see everything that we would not have been able to on our own. Her knowledge was amazing!

This was an amazing tour! There was just the four of us so we basically had a private tour. Our guide Marie was very knowledgeable and gave us a real appreciation for the art. She knew exactly where to go to see all of the highlights that we would not have been able to on our own. This was an excellent tour and I highly recommend it. Very easy to book and everyone was wonderful!! I will definitely use Take Walks again!!

Excellent
One of the better Walks tours on this trip. Our guide was mature, smart, and spoke good English. She was easy to understand and could answer questions with ease. Unfortunately this was not the case on all our Walks tours on this trip. Overall quality of English was an issue on several in both Italy and France. But this tour was excellent. Our guide, Lorenz (may be misspelling) was excellent. And of course the Louvre is such a magnificent facility and collection. Together with the Orsay, these were among the highlights of our trip. Would definitely recommend this tour and this guide. She was great!

I use a wheelchair. Can I take this tour?
Unfortunately, this tour route is not fully wheelchair accessible. However, an alternate route can be arranged to accommodate visitors in wheelchairs. Please contact our Guest Experience Team at least one week before the tour to discuss arranging a private tour that meets your accessibility needs.
What can I bring inside the Louvre Museums?
Please note that the Louvre will not allow large items inside the museum, so you should bring only a small daypack or handbag. More specifically, only bags smaller than 21.5 in x 13.5 in x 7.5 in (55 cm x 35 cm x 20) cm are permitted. Suitcases and large bags must be left outside. Closed, clear bottles of water are allowed inside the Louvre however food is forbidden inside the site. Please be advised that the use of selfie sticks and flash photography is not allowed inside the Louvre. Additional security checks may cause longer waits at unavoidable security lines at times.
Do I need to bring an ID with me on this tour?
Yes! Please ensure that all members of your party, including children, have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit.
Does the itinerary of your Louvre tours ever change?
The Louvre is constantly changing its collection by taking some pieces off of display and putting other on. In general, the works visited on this tour are among the most famous in the musuem so they are rarely not on display, however, they (very occasionally) go on loan to other museums, are taken down for restoration, or the galleries they are in are closed. If this happens, your guide will take you to see other works.
Why is it so hard to see the Mona Lisa without a lot of people?
The Mona Lisa is arguably the most famous painting in the world due to a variety of factors that include its painter, Leonardo da Vinci, the fact that he left very few completed paintings, the mysterious circumstances surrounding the painting, and the fact that it was stolen and lost for a number of years. It is housed in the Louvre, which is the most visited art museum in the world. When you combine all of these things, it makes the Mona Lisa probably the most visited/overcrowded painting in the world. Seeing it without the heaviest crowds is a matter of experience, opportunity, and very good timing.
